Back in June, I was given a chance for a job interview. Was disappointed as no news for few months (one of my old colleagues did ask
around for me and seems some headcount frozen or things like that). Then one day
in Oct, my agent called and inquired whether I was still interested in this post (guess
he’s also intrigued on such news after months). After some negotiations on the
package, finally I decided to take this opportunity.
It’s not a very tough decision for resignation, for the
business was declining and morale was low in my old company. Indeed, it’s good
to stay if you have to study after work or take care kids since there’s plenty
of “personal” time which you can do whatever you want. However, it’s not what I’m
looking for. Sometimes it’s boring to do web surfing the whole day with nothing
to do. Indeed, it’s very welcomed to relocate to Taiwan since the business is
booming there, but I’ve had enough exposure years ago (Monday
to Friday in Taiwan, back at weekend only, 3 times a month for around 2 years). Indeed, it’s time
to leave the comfort zone and pursue something new.
The departure was not as sad as I’ve imagined. People were
just happy for me though they did wonder why I don’t wait for "package" from the company. Sometimes opportunity does not wait until you're 100% ready, sacrifice is just inevitable (yeah, I did sacrifice my 13 month pay and year end bonus!!). Appreciated all people in my old and new company for helping me so much. Anyway, I'm looking forward to learn something new and get some exposure from another angle of the business. So fingers
crossed~~~
Now, got to commute to work using company shuttle bus cause it's in middle of nowhere... The view is good indeed since the office is just along the sea with a large park. I ran downstairs to capture the magic moment one day during office hour~~~
